Service Description

What is real allyship? How do you spot performative allyship? And how can I be a better ally, for the betterment of others, before myself? We must connect the dots from our individual attitudes and actions to overall structures — “the policies, laws and institutions that systematically benefit some racial groups while disadvantaging others,” (Candis Watts Smith) — that have succeeded in knitting bias into our mindsets and our society. Only when we understand racism and its different components can we engage in productive conversations that will enable us to take concrete steps to dismantle harmful attitudes and rebuild our structures. In this session, Kaia Allen-Bevan - activist, speaker, and Anti-Racism/Allyship Lead at WatchThisSpace - will introduce you to the concept of allyship, and show you how you can introduce practises at work and beyond to become an active ally in the strive for social justice.
